Cockpit Builders Home

Short of becoming a commercial or private pilot in real life we can say that building your own as-real-as-it-gets home cockpit is perhaps one of the ultimate experiences of a virtual pilot (the arm-chair pilot).

The first serious steps a flight simmer takes into cockpit building is perhaps making that investment in rudder pedals and flight simulation yoke and perhaps even the thrust levers. Yet nothing is as simple as it seems and most likely once you have done that you will find yourself dreaming of building that realistic home cockpit.

Home cockpits come in a variety of flavours. Some are as "simple" as extra displays screens, perhaps with fresnel lens or some more realistic instrument panels but real buttons. Then again, one starts wishing the cockpit looks more realistic so you start building a frame of a cockpit of your favourite aircraft, start buying other instrument panels and perhaps one day you have your own expensive cockipt in one of the rooms of your house or that special room in the backyard.

Needless to say, you can make it as complicated and realistic as your budget allows. For that there are the instrument panels from various manufacturers and the top of the top, that six axes of motion base for your simulator.
