Affiliate Program

We at Virtual Aviation Information value the loyalty of our visitors and sites that link to us. This program is attractive in particular to the following groups:

  • Virtual Airlines
  • Software add-on vendors
  • Hardware add-ons (or cockpit instrumentation) vendors
  • Flight schools
  • Airlines and other groups

It is specially appreciated that all free listings at Virtual Aviation (for example the virtual airline directory, cockpit builders directory) correspond by enrolling in the affiliate program. Being listed does not mean that an affiliate account is automatically made.

How it works

At the time of this writing the affiliate program is simple. The site in question puts a link with an image on their website. This linked image should point to http://www.virtual-aviation.info and be in the format we specify below.

We may keep track on the number of impressions of our affiliate icon on your website as well as the number of clicks that bring visitors from your site to ours. If your link is listed in our site and you have an affiliate account then we also keep track of the number of times your link has been clicked on our site thereby taking visitors to your website. Additionally we keep track of the IP address.

Based on the above information, the positional quality of the link on your site and the current threshold levels we would feature your site either on the front page or the section that is appropriate to the category of your site (i.e. Virtual airline, cockpit builders). The choice is at our discretion.

Misuse or abuse of your account by unfair use (excessive or suspicious referrals) would result in termination of your account. From time to time, whether manually or automatically we would perform checks on your site to verify whether the link is actually there.

How do I apply

It is very simple to apply. If you are already listed in any of the directories make sure to include that information, specially if you have already been informed by us when your link was added to the directory. We would need the following information:

  • Your email address (must be valid)
  • The URL of your website where our affiliate link is featured
  • What your site is about or indicate the category of your choice

Then send us an email to

Forms of acceptable links

There are two forms of affiliate program linking. The first (and preferred) way is by means of an icon with a link to our site and the second with a plain trackable link to our site. In any case the link should not be placed in some deeply nested page that is either not accessible from the menu on your site (hidden page). Here are the various forms of affiliate linking in their order of preference. You are free to change the background/foreground colours but the information must remain unchanged.Do not forget to use your own Affiliate Id (the id parameter value shown as VAA-1234) when you use the markup on your page!

This button would ideally be used on side bars that display prominent links to sponsors, affiliates, etc.

virtual-aviation.info
<a href="http://www.virtual-aviation.info/AffiliateHandler.ashx?id=VAA-1234&op=1" title="Visit Virtual-Aviation.info"> <img src="http://www.virtual-aviation.info/AffiliateHandler.ashx?id=VAA-1234&op=0" border="0" align="middle"/> </a>

This narrower version would be used when your screen real estate is limited:

virtual-aviation.info
<a href="http://www.virtual-aviation.info/AffiliateHandler.ashx?id=VAA-1234&op=1" title="Visit Virtual-Aviation.info"> <img src="http://www.virtual-aviation.info/AffiliateHandler.ashx?id=VAA-1234&op=0&im=1" border="0" align="middle"/> </a>

And this would be used in a textual link or list of links on your page where an image is not very appealing to your layout:

<a href="http://www.virtual-aviation.info/AffiliateHandler.ashx?id=VAA-1234&op=2">Virtual Aviation</a>
